Colours In The Air
Richard Deacon David Batchelor Fedja Klikovac

On the momentous fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Handel Street Projects is pleased to present a selection of striking images by artists David Batchelor, Richard Deacon and Fedja Klikovac.

Since 24th February 2022, the artists have been collecting photographs of places and situations where, by chance, the yellow and blue colours of Ukrainian flag appear. It didn’t start with a plan, but the sharing of images – there are now over 200 images in the series – led to the idea of an exhibition. Colours In The Air was first shown as a set of prints at Handel Street Projects in London, in 2023. It was intended as a fund-raising exhibition on the first anniversary of the invasion.

With kind support of Piccadilly Lights, we are now very pleased to present this body of work as a monumental open-air projection at Piccadilly Lights in Piccadilly Circus. The screening will take place from 6pm and will last for 10 minutes. Prints of individual images will again be available in support of the Ukrainian Emergency Art Fund.

The toll on Ukraine has been huge. The country, its people, its government and its vibrant culture needs and deserves our solidarity and support.
