“There are no guarantees that Ukraine will defeat Russia, but that does not mean that we should stand back and let Putin have his way with Europe… Helping a free people defend their freedom is simply the right thing to do.” U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney
On this, the second anniversary of Putin’s criminal invasion of Ukraine, we stand together with Ukraine in its defence of freedom, democracy and international law. Ukraine is fighting for us.
According to the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, at least 10,000 civilians, including more than 560 children, have been killed and over 18,500 have been injured since Russia launched its attack on 24 February 2022. We must not also forget that, according to US intelligence, 315,000 Russian soldiers have been killed on the battlefield; they too are victims of Putin’s criminality.
The damage to the economic, industrial, agricultural and cultural life of Ukraine, it’s buildings, infrastructure and services has been huge. The bombardments continue.
David Batchelor, Richard Deacon and Fedja Klikovac mark this tragic anniversary and salute the people of Ukraine. We will continue raising funds for the Ukrainian Emergency Art Fund through every means available to us. Slava Ukraini.
